Brule River Fishing

Since the 1850’s, the Bois Brule River in Douglas County has been considered one of the best brook trout fishing rivers in the American midwest.

Fishing the Brule

Over past decades, anglers from all over the world have traveled in to fish the Brule’s residential trout population and to partake in the great steelhead runs of the Spring and Fall. An all year population of brook trout, brown trout, and rainbow trout can be fished in the Upper Brule. A lake run of brown trout, coho salmon, and chinook salmon can be found in the lower segments of the river.
